NO, Kodi Users Are Not Risking Ten Years in Prison

UK tabloids including The Mirror, Daily Mail, The Sun and The Express are reporting that people watching Kodi streams risk ten years in jail. Despite that being a false claim spawned from a click-bait agenda, dozens of other publications sadly followed up by reporting the same 'news'. Today, the Sunday Express upped the stakes by reporting that TorrentFreak readers could be going to prison too.

The Lanka question

Kuldip Nayar
Kuldip Nayar is a veteran Indian journalist, human rights activist and a noted author.

Troubled waters all around India

New Delhi has lots to explain when Mohinder Rajpaksa was reelected as Sri Lanka’s President for the second time. India had supplied him small arms which he liberally used to kill the Tamils, the largest minority in that country. He should have been tried for war crimes because he killed 40,000 Tamils in cold blood even after the surrender by what was then called the LTTE, the militant face of Tamils in the Northern Sri Lanka.

Why Turkey’s leaders can’t say ‘Je Suis Charlie’

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu made the trip to join the anti-terrorist march Sunday in Paris, whereas U.S. leaders did not. It was the right call for a man and country that have ambitions in both the Middle East and Europe. Yet the one thing Davutoglu couldn’t join the marchers in saying was, “Je Suis Charlie.”

Prabhakaran is dead but not the LTTE and Eelam

The figurehead of LTTE incorporated was killed on May 19, 2009 alongside a handful of other LTTE leaders. The fact that a little over 11,000 LTTE cadres surrendered or were captured during the final phase of the conflict should showcase that there are many more trained LTTE cadres still at large and we do not know how many live in either Sri Lanka or overseas.

A Glimmer Of Hope in The north

“That the government had not completely done away with the dual citizenship program and that due to security reasons it would be evaluated on a person to person basis.”

By Camelia Nathaniel - Reporting from Jaffna

The Northern Province especially Jaffna, five years after the end of the war, is a bustling city while the people here are visibly relieved that they can live freely without the fear of bombs and killings and losing their children. However it is not to say that the people in this region are not facing hardships. Indeed they are facing many difficulties; especially unemployment which is an issue that is affecting them in a big way.

TGTE Losing Lustre Among Tamils

After the defeat of the LTTE in May 2009, the leaders of the LTTE rump attempted to replicate the organization in exile. As a segment of the Sri Lankan Tamil expatriates had spent much of lives supporting the crimes of murder, destruction and assassination by the LTTE, they were determined to not let their efforts go to waste.
