Slain LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabakaran’s house and bunker in Pudukudiruppu has been demolished by the military.
Following the end of the war, the house was a popular tourist attraction, especially among tourists from the South.
Residents in the area told the Uthayan newspaper that they were evacuated from the area last evening saying an un-exploded device had been found.
They later heard a loud explosion from the site of the house and saw smoke in the air.
It was later believed that Prabakaran’s house and bunker was demolished using explosives.
The military meanwhile confirmed that the bunker had been destroyed and said there was no need to have it anymore.
