In 1986, muslim extremists kidnapped 4 Soviet diplomats in Beirut. Kidnappers demanded Moscows support for pro syrian fighters in Lebenon.
As expected, Moscow ignored these demands.
The kidnappers, in order to show that they´re not kidding, killed one of the hostages.

KGB kidnapped a family member of one of the Hezbollahs leaders. He has been castrated and killed, and the leader himself received a package.
Tha package contained cut body parts and a note saying that his other family members will soon face the same fate.
